Child Abuse
Physical, sexual, or emotional maltreatment or neglect of children by parents, guardians, or others responsible for a child's welfare. Physical abuse is characterized by physical injury, usually inflicted as a result of a beating or inappropriately harsh discipline.
Sexual Abuse
Includes molestation, incest, rape, prostitution, or use of a child for pornographic purposes. Neglect can be physical in nature (abandonment, failure to seek needed health care), educational (failure to see that a child is attending school), or emotional (abuse of a spouse or another child in the child's presence, allowing a child to witness adult substance abuse).

Feds Can Hold Sex Offenders IndefinitelyPosted May 17, 10 9:37 AM CDT
(AP) – The Supreme Court says federal officials can indefinitely hold inmates considered "sexually dangerous" after their prison terms are complete. The high court today reversed a lower court decision in regards to these inmates.
Harsher sentences are now being imposed. It could be said that this was due to four men who served prison terms ranging from three to eight years for possession of child pornography or sexual abuse of a minor. Their confinement was supposed to end more than two years ago, but prison officials said there would be a risk of sexually violent conduct or child molestation if they were released.

FARMINGTON — Raphaelbert Randall, 32, pleaded guilty to molesting a 4-yr old family member and John Wilcox, 59, pled guilty to also molesting a relative. Both men pleaded to multiple charges. Each man will face a minimum of 18 years in prison.
Boy Chained By Parents As Punishment for His Behavior

A father and stepmother are accused of chaining their son to a kitchen table for two days, releasing him only to sleep, eat and use the restroom.
Police in Sacramento, Ca., said they learned of the abuse when the boy escaped the home and was seen walking down a street chained at his wrists, ankles and neck, asking for help.
Police said the father, John Vang, 40, chained his son as punishment for misbehaving and the stepmother, Thong Vue, 34, did nothing to stop the abuse.
They are facing charges of false imprisonment and cruelty to a child.
The 13-year-old boy himself was arrested, police said, and his father chained him as punishment for his behavior.
